IT Infrastructure Supervisor

TITLE OF POSITION: IT Infrastructure Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Technical Services 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Mississippi Public Broadcasting's Technical Services Division seeks an experienced IT Infrastructure Supervisor who's a dynamic and experienced leader with the ability to guide the IT staff. The ideal candidate will oversee the day-to-day operation of computer networks, storage and servers including hardware/software and vendor support contracts, training, and special projects.

 DUTIES ALSO INCLUDE:

1.      Plans, designs, and implements data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems. Assists in coordinating special projects including network related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, maintenance and problem solving.

2.      Assists in providing network and remote connectivity hardware/software support.

3.      Maintains LAN user documentation including hardware/software applications, support logs and other related information.

4.      Researches and recommends network and server and hardware and software and assists in installing, designing, configuring, and maintaining system hardware and software. Researches and evaluates new technologies related to computer networking, storage and servers, and keeps current regarding new hardware/software products for system enhancements.

5.      Analyzes and troubleshoots the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems. Monitors network access, storage capacity, server operations and usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.

6.      Develops, maintains, and implements network, storage and server support procedures.

7.      Assists in planning, coordinating, and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware/software purchases, product services and support.

8.      Assists and provides support to the IT Infrastructure Manager and other technology staff as requested including performing scheduled network tasks, and providing internet and intranet user support, and specialized training.

9.      Must have expertise with firewalls, cisco switching and routing protocols, Windows Server and Vmware system administration, NAS and LTO storage architecture, fiber and CAT cable network design and installation.

10.  Strategic planning, budgeting, purchasing, RFP documentation, contract administration, as well as project management skills preferred.

 Familiarity with media and broadcast infrastructure, an understanding of encoding systems, audio/video IP transport equipment and architecture as well as the skill to lead teams of MPB staff, contracted vendors and external resources from other State agencies preferred.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and three (3) to five (5) plus years of IT experience. Experience with and or Cisco switching and routing Meraki wireless, FortiGate firewalls preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years in a comparable role (Network, storage and server installation, maintenance and administration).
