Broadcast IT Specialist
WAPT-TV, the ABC affiliate in Jackson, MS is looking for an IT Manager to join our station. You will help oversee the IT operations at our station and work with a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. The IT Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and performs daily maintenance on computers, virtual systems, network infrastructure, printers and provides user support.
Responsibilities
Support user needs across all departments, including News, Creative Services, Sales, Engineering and AdministrationMaintain imaging machines, updating firmware and managing hardware inventoryProvide technical guidance to end-users and mobile device supportMaintain LAN/IT infrastructure, installation and support of network hardware and softwareOccasional travel to news bureau, transmitter and translator locationsAnalyze and implement corporate data back-up, disaster recovery and security procedure
Requirements
Working knowledge of managed network switches and architecture conceptsVMWare, Cisco or Microsoft certifications preferredVPN, Cisco equipment, TCP/IP and subnets, and routing. OSPF experience a plusWireshark and Nmap experience Clustered Network Attached Storage Deep understanding of file share permissions and inheritance Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems Knowledge of Linux Python programming experience preferred Prior experience with a large user baseExperience in the television broadcast setting preferredEnterprise and web-based applicationsCommunications skills and customer-service attitudeHigher education in technology, SBE certification or related military experience will be consideredIn-person attendance is required
